My Story – About Me
I am the type of person who doesn’t like staying in one place too long, seeing the same things day in day out. I love exploring brand new places that I have never seen before. In the past, I have always tended to travel with friends, partners or family so solo travel was a novel idea to me.
Before solo travelling my travel experience consisted mainly of family holidays in the UK and Europe. These really gave me travel bug and I always wanted to see more.
After graduating university, I decided that I wanted to see as much of the world as I possibly could before I settled down in a full time job (who really escapes the corporate world once they get sucked in?).
So… I booked a one way ticket to Bangkok with no clue when I would return home. (This ended up being 14 months later after solo travelling 11 countries and having a better experience than I could have ever imagined).
The year from 2023 to 2024 was the busiest and best year of my life. I learnt how to ski, how to scuba dive (I am now an advanced certified diver who has dived through WW2 shipwrecks and also with sharks!)
In order to fund my trip I worked while studying at university – although with such a long trip I had to be pretty careful with money. This meant living on a budget, staying in hostels for the most part and working for 6 months on a working holiday visa in the beautiful Sydney, Australia. Stay tuned for tips on how to survive on a tight budget. I managed to travel for over a year with only £6,000 of initial savings.
I have now returned from my big solo trip and the travel blues have definitely kicked in already, so much so I am already thinking about at how soon I can book another one way flight to Central America!
